There are spiritual scar wars that we’ll have to fight through. These battles will leave indelible marks on our souls. Yet, we can be encouraged knowing that we have the power to overcome through God’s abundant grace. His strength equips us to not just endure these struggles but to emerge victorious. Our scars can serve as reminders of His faithfulness and our triumph.
The good news is that victory is possible when we employ the right strategies. The first step is awareness—recognizing that we are indeed in a battle. Ignorance of the war only leaves us vulnerable. Once we acknowledge the fight, the next crucial step is to identify our enemies.
Understanding who or what we are battling against gives us the insight needed to develop effective strategies for overcoming them. Knowledge of our opponent is pivotal to claiming victory, as it enables us to counter their attacks and stand firm in our faith. With God’s wisdom and strength, we can not only fight but triumph in this spiritual war.
The Bible says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12). Recognizing the type of battle we are in is the first step toward victory.
I recently wrote a blog post titled “Nail Prints.” In the context of spiritual scar wars, nail prints are deeply significant. These are the invisible wounds that cut the deepest. Though unseen, they have the power to paralyze us if we allow them to dominate our lives. They represent the emotional and spiritual injuries we endure in the midst of this battle. They are also central to the struggles we face in our spiritual scar wars.
In Spiritual Scar Wars, Our Mind is the Battlefield
Our mind is a battlefield, and it is often where the fiercest attacks occur. Many of our deepest scars are inflicted here, in the arena of our thoughts and emotions. While it might sometimes feel like we are engaged in a physical battle, we must understand that the true war is spiritual—and it begins in the mind.
Satan’s primary target is our mind because he knows that if he can control our thoughts, he can influence our actions. However, the good news is that he only has as much power as we allow him. If we guard our minds and refuse to let him in, he cannot defeat us. Victory begins with recognizing this truth and choosing to fill our minds with God’s Word and His promises. In doing so, we build a stronghold of faith that protects us from the enemy’s schemes.
No amount of water can sink a ship unless it gets inside. Even the heaviest, most turbulent waters may toss a ship, pushing it back and forth, yet as long as the water remains outside, the ship will continue to stay afloat and press on. In the same way, the storms of life cannot defeat us unless we allow them to infiltrate our hearts and minds. We must guard against letting the trials of life overwhelm us internally, so we can keep moving forward with faith and resilience.
Keep Sailing On
Keep sailing on. Christ goes before you, constantly paving your way and lighting your path. Keep pressing forward. As you press, you will learn to endure, growing stronger with every step. In my own experience, I’ve had to learn the importance of keeping my mind steadfast and focused.
The Bible tells us to guard our hearts—our minds—because everything we do flows from them. My greatest battles have always been in my mind. There have been times when I’ve worn the widest smiles, yet my mind was a battlefield filled with wounds unseen by others. This is because the true battle is often invisible, waged within our thoughts and emotions. But even in the midst of these struggles, Christ is our strength and our victory.
We must First Win In Our Minds
We must gird the loins of our minds with strength and truth. This begins by wholeheartedly believing what God says. When we anchor ourselves in faith, God equips us with the spiritual weapons we need to fight and win our battles.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
The battle is first won in the mind, and because we are in a constant battle, we will face relentless attacks. Yet, God has given us a powerful defense—the shield of faith. This shield is designed to extinguish the fiery darts of the enemy, but it only works if we actively use it by believing God’s Word.
To use this shield effectively, we must hold fast to the truth of Scripture. We cannot compromise on God’s Word, no matter what others think or how contrary it seems to worldly standards. True safety lies in trusting His promises and standing firm in His truth. This is how we ensure our shield is always in place.
I’ve experienced moments when the enemy has attacked my mind with evil thoughts: “You’re not good enough,” “You’re a failure,” “You’ll never succeed.” These lies are like flaming arrows designed to tear us down. But my defense has always been the truth of God’s Word. I remind myself, “I am a child of God,” “There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus,” and “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” These truths are my armor.
Be Patient In Continuing
It can be deeply frustrating to feel like you’re circling the same mountain repeatedly—facing the same struggles, fighting the same demons, and wrestling with the same chains. Such experiences can leave us weary and discouraged. Yet, we must remind ourselves to press on, one step at a time. With each step, we must drink deeply from the waters of encouragement to find the strength to grow.
Patience is not just a virtue; it is a powerful spiritual weapon. The Bible reminds us in Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” In the midst of life’s spiritual scar wars, patience becomes our shield, guarding us from despair and positioning us to receive God’s deliverance.
When we exercise patience in the face of difficulty, we not only endure but also shift the weight of frustration back onto the enemy. By waiting on God, we declare our trust in His timing and our belief in His power to rescue us. Patience transforms our struggle into a battlefield where victory is assured through faith and perseverance.
So, as you continue, let patience be your anchor and your weapon, knowing that God is faithful to strengthen you and to bring you through to victory.
We must frustrate the enemy with our faith.
You have what it takes to endure spiritual scar wars. No matter how hard the battle, don’t ever give up. As you trust in God, He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Even when you cannot see His hand moving, He is there—fighting for you, standing beside you, and preparing the way for your breakthrough. If we don’t always see Him, it’s not because He’s absent, but because we often fail to recognize His presence. God is always there, ever faithful, and never far from us.
As you press forward, know this: the best is yet to come. God has plans for you—plans to prosper you and give you a future full of hope. In the midst of scar wars, when the wounds seem deep and the battles relentless, remember that God’s promises are steadfast. He is shaping you, strengthening you, and preparing you for a future beyond what you can imagine.
So, won’t you trust Him, even when the scars seem overwhelming? Trust that He is in control, and that the trials you face now are just temporary. His victory for you is eternal. Keep fighting, keep trusting, and keep pressing on—because your breakthrough is coming, and it will be worth every step of the journey.
There Is Healing In The Word Of God
The Bible tells us that the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, able to penetrate even to the dividing of soul and spirit (Hebrews 4:12). Such pure, powerful words have the ability to heal and restore us. The truth is, words have the power to make us whole, to bring life to our broken places, and to mend the wounds we carry.
“He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” (Psalm 107:20)
As we meditate on the Word of God, we must allow it to perform the spiritual surgeries necessary for our transformation. The Word can make the incisions needed to expose our wounds, and just as skillful hands perform a surgery, the Word can also provide the healing required to seal and restore us. No other tool can reach the deep recesses of our hearts like the Word of God can. It has the power to correct the lies that led to our scars in the first place, revealing the truth and setting us free.
As we move forward, let’s make it our practice to learn these words, to speak them over our lives, and to let them do their work. As we do, God’s Mighty Right Hand will be at work, healing us, restoring us, and renewing us.
You Can Wage War Against The Enemy in Your Spiritual Scar Wars
We must not remain passive in the face of spiritual attack. If we do, the enemy will continue to wound us. Instead, we must learn to fight back, standing firm on the Word of God and declaring it against the evil one.
Consider the pain the enemy has caused in your life and the lives of others. The world is filled with suffering because of him. Therefore, we must be active warriors in this spiritual battle. The Bible reminds us that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).
Ephesians 6:14-18 outlines the weapons we have to fight with, including the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. The sword is an offensive weapon, meant for attack. We must use God’s Word to strike back against the enemy and his attacks. By doing so, we stand firm in faith and resist his schemes.
In Scar Wars, Our prayer and praise are our greatest weapons
Prayer and praise are powerful weapons in the spirit. When we pray and praise, we disrupt the enemy’s camp and create chaos in his plans. By lifting our voices and spirits in praise, we can confuse and disarm the enemy, making him unsure of what to do next. We must maintain a heart of joy and continually worship our Great High Priest.
Like praise, prayer is a weapon of great power. Through prayer, we connect with God’s authority and invite His intervention into our lives. Let us remain steadfast in both prayer and praise, for these are mighty tools in the spiritual battle. May we never cease to dwell in prayer and worship, knowing they are lethal to the enemy’s schemes.
Spiritual Scar Wars
It’s by default we are in a battle,
A battle for the mind.
Yet we must win this battle,
That we have been assigned.
It’s a battle of scars,
In this battle that wars.
Yet we must prevail and win,
And sit in this battle we are in.
Scar wars, when wounds dig deep,
A battle that continues when we sleep.
Yet He keeps us, going where we go,
And He sees our scars as they grow.
Are you scarred?, and can’t carry on?
His Love shines brighter than the dawn.
So carry on, and on! Know He knows,
For for you and I King Jesus Rose.

Final Thoughts
As we face the scars from the spiritual battle we are in, we must learn how to fight for our healing and deliverance. This battle is real, and it requires active effort in the spirit.
Thankfully, God has provided us with powerful weapons to aid us in our struggle. The Bible teaches us about the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit (which is the Word of God). These tools are essential as we stand firm against the enemy and fight for our restoration.
Remember, God desires to heal us in our brokenness. Even in our pain, He is with us, leading us beside still waters. Trust that He will guide you through this battle and bring healing to your soul. I pray that you are blessed with strength, peace, and victory as you endure your spiritual scar wars. Be strong.
