Have you ever found yourself questioning God’s presence? It’s easy to feel His closeness when life is smooth sailing. However, when the road becomes rocky and lonely, we often ask, “But where is God?” Yet regardless of your feeling, The Bible assures you that God will never leave you or forsake you.
I had a conversation with a friend not too long ago where I shared my feelings of being in a place of nothingness, as if I were wandering through the deserts of life. Yet, the Bible assures us: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” The truth is, God is with us, even in our deserts.
He chuckled, recalling his own recent experiences of darkness. The reality is that the path to light often traverses through darkness. Just as eggs are fertilized in the dark and seeds germinate underground, we too must cultivate strength in our own patches of lightlessness.
Yet, as we navigate our darkness, we must remember that light is always present. Even though seeds sprout in darkness, they instinctively grow toward the light. Similarly, while babies develop in the womb, they are born into the light. As we confront our own periods of lightlessness, we should hold onto the bright bulb of hope that awaits us.
God is with you in every dark place
As my brother and I continued our conversation, we established that God is with us in every dark place. Even when it may not seem apparent, the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. The Bible assures us that His mercies never come to an end.
As I navigate my own journey, I often grapple with feelings of unworthiness regarding God’s love. This blog post was born from a time when I questioned God’s closeness and faithfulness. What I have discovered is that God’s love and presence do not hinge on our feelings; rather, they are rooted in His truth.
The Bible promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us. God’s presence is not contingent upon our circumstances but is anchored in His unwavering faithfulness and love.

Be encouraged in your own darkness
You might feel the same way I felt, that God has forgotten about you. Your situation might even seem like this. But it is His word that stands. As we travel through our darkness we must know with all our hearts that there is Light.
The truth is that it is written in the pure Word of God that He will be with us in every dark place. David asked“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.“ Psalm 139:7-12. David found out that even when he is in hell God is with him.
God's Word Is Final Authority
It doesn’t matter what we think, feel or experience – it is the Word of God that stands. Many times our emotions are all over the place, but the truth of God is firm and strong. Nothing can be added or taken away from it.
We can either believe it, or not, but what we believe doesn’t take away from God’s truth. Our wrong beliefs only affect our own realities. We can live a lie by believing it. But we cannot change the truth by believing a lie.
The Bible says that every word of God is pure, and that it is a shield for those who put their trust in Him. If we trust God then we will follow His Word that says He will never leave us not forsake us. Many people try to change the truth of God with complicated philosophies and teachings but the simple yet potent truth will always have final authority.
