Ya Mon, Once there is life, there is hope. If you’ve been following my writing, you know I am a proud Jamaican. In Jamaica, we use the expression “ya mon” as a way to agree, affirm, or acknowledge something.
I recall using this phrase with a female colleague once, and she replied, “Who are you calling man?” I had to explain that it’s just the Jamaican way of expressing agreement. So when I say, “Ya mon, once there is life, there is hope,” I’m simply affirming that as long as we have breath in our lungs and a beating heart, there is always hope.
Hope is the fuel that sustains us through life’s extremes. It is the reason we can endure hard hits and keep pressing forward. Like a stream of water, it refreshes and strengthens us with the determination to carry on. The best news of all is that we have a Living Hope in Christ—one that is eternal and unshakable.
Get Up and Live
If you are reading this, it means the breath of life is within you—and that alone is reason to have hope. No matter what situation you are facing, there is always hope. Solomon captures this truth perfectly: “A living dog is better than a dead lion.”
Think about it—the lion, known for its strength and majesty, becomes powerless without life. Even a tiny toy poodle would triumph over a lifeless lion. Life itself, no matter how humble or challenging, holds infinite potential and promise. Where there is life, there is always the possibility of transformation, growth, and victory.
For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. Ecclesiastes 9:4
Life makes the difference
Life makes all the difference. There’s a song that says, “Get up, stand up, stand up for your right.” In it, Bob Marley inspires listeners to claim their right to stand—not out of desperation, but because it is their birthright. In the same way, having life gives you the right to live. So, rise from your feeble knees and stand tall in the victory that is already yours.
I understand what it feels like to be weighed down by circumstances—not because someone told me or I read it in a book, but because I’ve lived through it. I’ve walked through the valley of struggles, and I know the pain firsthand. Yet, life gave me the right to hope, to press on, and to claim victory. And it gives you the same.
Some situations feel heavier than the weight of the ocean. Yet, the life within you is mighty—strong enough to carry the oceans and seas. Every breath you take is filled with victory and resilience.
I know it’s easy to say, “Get up and live,” but for you, it might feel almost impossible. Still, by God’s grace, you can rise. You can begin to live again. So, why not take that step today? Get up and live.
Keep Breathing No Matter What – Once You Keep Breathing, There Is Hope
You can choose to keep breathing, no matter what. Like the rhythmic dance of life, each breath sustains us through joys and sorrows, victories and defeats. In the face of adversity, when the weight of the world feels unbearable, be intentional—keep breathing.
Inhale courage to confront challenges, exhale the doubts and fears that try to overtake you. Every breath is a reminder of your resilience in Christ, your strength to endure, and your ability to overcome any obstacle in your path.
No matter how fierce the storm or how dark the night, keep breathing. Each breath affirms your presence, resilience, and hope. Let it carry you through the hardest moments and guide you toward the light of a new day.
Each breath you take is a testament to your strength and unyielding spirit. So breathe on, believe on, and press forward. With every breath, you affirm your power to overcome and your commitment to embrace life’s journey with courage and grace.
Because God Has Your Back There Is Hope
There’s a song I love that says, “If you know the Lord is keeping you, what you gonna worry about?” It’s so comforting to know that the Lord Most High is the one who keeps us. In Isaiah 46:4, the Bible assures us that God promises to carry and sustain us:
“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. This truth reminds us that God is with us both in the heights of glory and in the depths of the storm. His promise remains: “They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.”
So, why not wait on Him and rise above the tides?

Keep On Fighting
You have to keep on fighting.
Yea, in the faintest lighting!
Oh yes, better keep on moving,
Ever keep on grooving!
I pray you stay the way in,
I pray you keep on praying!
That God will help you fighting,
Because it’s the right thing!
Though the water be troubled,
And double seems doubled!
Be the light must keep shining,
It’ll be alright if you keep on fighting.
Consider the sight of the heights and,
Know that God holds your right hand!
To keep the light on, as you fight on,
Aim for the target and hit it right on!
Don’t let the waters take you under,
Be bold like the light of the thunder!
No way out, keep the story writing,
Keep moving, keep on fighting.
