Great Men
Oh great men who trod the rocky road,
Great men, who bear a laden heavy load
They reach to find, the mission is never done,
Oh great men, who labor under the sun.
Strong men who walked across the netted end,
Oh strong men, who the nations they defend.
They conclude to know the mission is never complete,
Oh strong men, who labor on their naked feet.
They reach across the dark of night,
Oh great men who endure the fight.
Just to know their heart’s all rested,
For great things through their hands manifested.
Why do great men die, why’d they go so soon?
To watch the stars at night, and rest under the moon.
They are great men, who trod the rocky road,
Great men who bear a burden heavy load.
