10 Scriptures To Reflect On When You Are Broken

10 Scriptures to reflect on when you are broken (1)

There are numerous Scriptures to reflect on when you are broken. These healing words will help you get through life’s difficult moments. If you have even been broken, you will understand the special needs of those who are wounded. A broken person is crippled and desperately needs help.

However, help is a heartbeat away. In our brokenness, it is important to know that we are not alone and that there is great hope. God has provided us with the  scriptures to encourage us when troubles break lose. There is great light in scripture – the light of life that raises every dead. As we walk we’ll need this light to be a lamp to our feet. This is because life can have very dark patches.

Dark Patches

We may encounter very dark patches in our journey. The term dark denotes lightlessness. In the natural, a dark place can be very scary. There was a time growing up when I experienced a very scary dark place. Long story short, I went with some friends into an underground cave. That was my first experience and I was somewhat excited. As we entered the cave I suddenly realized it was far from what I thought. It was a dark, damp place filled with rat bats.

We went a little further and the older guys decided to turn off the lights. We were using some bottle torches with kerosine oil. The older guys were the ones carrying these torches and they decided to scare us by turning off the light. As they did this I remember we began to scream as if we were about to die. It was a complete lack of light. It was so dark that you couldn’t see your hand even when it was very close to your eyes. As we screamed they turned back on the light.

On that occasion I experienced the scariest and the most relieving moment respectively. Up to this point I haven’t gone back under a cave.

God is in the dark

We can be fully assured in our darkest moments that God is ever with us. Not only has He promised this, but His presence is constant. This means that He is everywhere at once, even beside you and I. Even though it can seem opposite but it is true that God is always with us. We must trust this as we walk with Him and hold onto Him with our faith.

I have had my own dark patches. There have been times when it appeared as if death would have been the sweetest thing. Yet I have come to realize that dark times trigger the sweetest life in us. In the roughest times, we learn to be more robust and resilient. These are traits of the person who have walked in the dark – with God. What I have also found is that you have to be fully assured with all your heart that God is with you as you walk in the dark.

There is great light in scripture, the light of life that raises every dead.

10 Scriptures to reflect on when you are broken

Perhaps you are in a broken home, or your heart has been broken. It really doesn’t matter what has broken you, what matters is that the Scriptures can heal you.

The following are some of the most inspiring scriptures that will keep you going in your brokenness. Remember that God wants to see you whole and He is greater than all the things that want to break you. Let’s look at them.

1. Psalm 34:18 - The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

This is healing knowledge in your brokenness, that God is close to you. As you cry you should know that He stores your tears in His bottle and records every single teardrop that you cry. Take solace in the fact that God is with you when your wounds are deep. I have a saying that goes like this ; “When our wounds are deep, His love is deeper and when our hills are steep His grace is steeper.” How wonderful it is that His mercies are new every morning.

2. He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. 4. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. 5. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.

Christ not only collects our tears in His bottle but He also heals our wounds with His love. Often we feel like God has neglected us yet this is farthest from reality. The truth is that He sees us from afar off. He is very close to our wounds. This scripture tells us that His understanding is infinite. This means that He understands our wounds perfectly. As we trust Him He will be faithful to heal us.

3. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.

The Bible speaks about the steadfast love of God, how it never stops. It says that His mercies never come to an end. Because of this we can be sure that as we travel through deep waters He’ll be right there with us, and when we walk through the fires of life they will not consume us. Find refuge in the truth of God that He’ll be with you wherever you go.

Psalm 51:7

4. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

God wants to consume our broken hearts on His altar of sacrifice. That’s what the altar is for. Won’t you allow God into your heart, for sure He wants to heal you. In your brokenness keep praying and crying out to Jesus Christ. There is a balm in Gilead and Christ our Lord is the physician there. In our confession He will ever heal us.

5. Whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything.

The Bible says that there is no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus and walk according to the spirit and not the flesh. In our woundedness, we should be careful to walk by faith while trusting God. As we are broken, it is easy to condemn ourselves – yet the Bible says there is no condemnation. Not even our own hearts will be able to condemn us. Walk with God.

6. Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again, and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.

Don’t let you circumstances defeat you. When you fall know that God holds you up with His right hand. Be strong. There is no deepness that is deeper than His love toward us.

7. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.Proverbs 3:5-6

As we trust God He will show us the way we must go. In our pain it might be hard to trust Him yet the most beautiful we can do in our storms is to trust Him. This is because He will give us beauty for our ashes when the ugliness of life engulfs us.

8. Neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is nothing or no one that can prevent God from loving us. His love is stubborn towards us as we cast our burdens on Him. Satan wants to steal this knowledge of His love from us, but we should hold it close to our hearts. Never forget that not even death can separate us from God’s love. He proves this by offering us His resurrection that raises every dead.

9. Therefore  take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

When we are scarred we should know that there is a devil out to destroy us. Yet we can put on the whole armor of God that will help us in our need. We can use the word of God as a shield to protect us in our hurt. This will help us to endure to the end.

10. But He said to me "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ's power may rest on me.

When we are weak it is hardest to believe that His power can be perfected in us, and His strength can be made perfect. Yet it is when we become less that He is able to become more in us, and it is when we let go of ourselves that He is able to take the wheel and drive us to victory. When you are weak remember that God is forever strong. Won’t you put your trust in Him.

Concluding Thoughts

God can heal us as we believe. Our duty is to trust Him with all our hearts and rest in Him. He had given us the scriptures to help us in our brokenness. His Word has the power to heal us and transform us into His fullness. May God heal your broken heart. Be blessed.
