In the book of Ephesians (Ephesians 6:10-18), the Bible instructs us to put on the whole armor of God. This is because in the difficult days, the armor of God is our protection. It will also ensure that in the difficult days we can stand. The Bible here is giving us the key to endure, which is to be prepared. Abraham Lincoln once said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe. ” For any journey, preparation is the key to endurance and to complete that journey.
A person who is prepared for life is less likely to be overthrown by its unpleasant surprises. In Ephesians the Bible is specifically talking about the spiritual armor that we need to fight the unseen forces that exist. We should understand that the true battle is a spiritual one and the preparation as a result has to be spiritual.
How Do We Prepare?
The great question is “If life is a spiritual journey, then how do we prepare in the spirit?” Our preparation is in our minds. Every given day there are thousands of unseen thoughts that pass through our minds. These thoughts can either break us or make us. The Bible gives us the answer to be fully prepared in our minds.
We are instructed to put on the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of salvation and to use the sword of the spirit, among other things. None of these weapons are physical, but they are all mind and spirit focussed. Righteousness is in our belief and the sword of the spirit is the Word of God. The helmet of salvation is the spiritual guard that blocks negativity from our minds. To prepare is to be fully empowered in our minds of who we are and whose we are.

Who Are Of God
We are of God and we are God’s. When we come into identity with our true self then the question of endurance becomes irrelevant. To know who we are is to know that we are already victorious. It also means we fully identify with Who God is. When we know this, we will know in whose hands our victories lie.
God the Almighty has us in the palm of His hands. Because of this, we are fully prepared to withstand the attacks of our enemies. We are secured in the fact that our God is greater than the greatest.
There is no armor that is greater than that which the Lord provides for us. Our enemies may be many and our knees may be feeble but our strength is found in a God who never slumbers. He never sleeps but rather dwell on His great throne of grace. Be strong today and always remember that our armor is the Lord.
