The Scriptures are filled with life transforming words for the broken hearted. These Bible healing words will empower you with strength to carry on. The truth is, we are all in need of a little healing.
Whether you are a Christian or any other person for that matter. While I was brainstorming the topic for this blog, I wanted to use the heading “Healing Words for Christians: 50 Ways to Unlock your Blessing,” but I then considered that everyone need healing, not only christians.
These words are so powerful that they can unlock the flow of spiritual blessings in your life. Understanding them will fill you with wisdom, and draw you closer to God’s promise of healing.
In this particular blog, I want us to look at the word healing in depth. Let us examine 50 healing words that the Bible uses and see how they can help us on our own healing journey. Let’s dig deeper.
What Is Healing
When you hear healing, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? For me, when I hear healing, I think of relief from pain, or hurt. But what does the term really mean? The Bible uses many different words to talk about making a person whole.
See this separate blog for more biblical words related to healing.
In the Old Testament
In the Old Testament, the word Rapha'” (רָפָא) is used to describe God’s healing for His people Israel. The term means to heal, to restore, or to make whole.
It is also important to note that the term Rapha is one of the names of God (Jehovah Rapha) meaning the God who heals. Healing is so important to God, that it is a part of His name.
The term ‘Rapha’ appears in Exodus 15:26: ‘For I am the Lord who heals you (Yahweh-Rapha). When I hear Jehovah Rapha, it triggers the breath of healing within me, because I know how much God wants to heal and restore us.
In the New Testament
The terms Therapeuo (θεραπεύω) and Iaomai (ἰάομαι) are used to describe healing.
Therapeuo (θεραπεύω) means – To serve, care for, heal, cure. It is where we get the English word therapy and refers to medical healing, continuous care or miraculous healing.
The term is used in Matthew 4:24 – “And they brought to Him all who were ill… and He healed (Therapeuo, θεραπεύω) them.”
Iaomai (ἰάομαι) means – To heal, to cure, to make whole. This word often refers to instant, supernatural healing done by Jesus or through faith.
The term is used in Luke 5:17 – “And the power of the Lord was present to heal (Iaomai, ἰάομαι) them.“
Why Is Healing Important
Why is anything important? Food is important because, without it, we’d die of hunger, and water is important because, without it, we would surely die of thirst.
When it comes to healing, it is important because without healing we would not be able to live the wholesome and powerful lives God created us to live. That’s why I wrote in my book Broken, Yet Destined to Be Healed that healing is inevitable.
There was a time that I was so broken, that all I did was hurt myself. I adapted destructive habits and secluded myself from the healing rain of God. But I realized that it was inevitable for me to heal, and transform into the individual of purpose that God created me to be. I had to use Bible healing words on my healing journey to get me to this place of redemption.
You too must be healed. Your healing will unlock God’s blessings in your life and will help you help others heal. We see that God is in the healing business, because the Bible is furnished with healing Scriptures for the broken.
Faith and Healing Go Hand in Hand
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Mark 5:34
I really love to write. When I do, my faith is empowered and I know that my writing can also empower the faith of others. when our faith is empowered, there is nothing we cannot achieve–including our healing. Faith will open the doors of healing in our lives and allow the floodgates of heaven to pour out God’s comforting touch.
The good news for us is that there are Bible healing words that can help us to unlock the flow of healing to us. These healing Bible verses are not just words to read; they must be applied to our daily lives for transformation.
Bible Healing Words: 50 Ways to Unlock Your Blessings
Here is my list of Bible Healing Words. They are 50 words of hope to help you heal. Don’t be discouraged. As you digest these words in your spirit and believe that God can heal you, you’ll be transformed into the light of Christ, a place of blessings and wholeness.
1. Healing
This term is used in Jeremiah 30:17, where the Lord promised healing to the children of Israel.“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.”
2. Faith
The word faith is used in Hebrew 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” It explains God’s definition of faith, which is the perfect way to our healing. We must know in the present that we are healed, and carry the assurance that God will come through of us.
3. Grace
Grace is among the list of Bible healing words that has the power to liberate you from brokenness. It is used in 2 Corinthians 12:9 where God encouraged Paul that His grace was sufficient. May the grace of God render you healed. As we juggle with our broken pieces, it is His grace that keeps us until the appointed time of His healing. May you wait upon the Lord. “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
4. Mercy
There is a song that resonates with me. It says, Your Grace and Mercy Brought Me Through. When we consider the wickedness of satan, we realize that it is God’s grace and mercy that keeps us from being consumed by this wicked one. If it wasn’t for His mercy where would I be? I would be consumed a long time ago. Isn’t this the same way with you?
The Scripture found in Lamentations 3:22 is the perfect show of God’s rich and never ending mercy. “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”
5. Strength
I recently wrote a blog titled: Bible Verses for Strength: True Hope In The Difficult Time. I share some Bible Healing Scriptures that can strengthen you through any hard time. The word strength denotes healing. As we are strengthened, we gain the power and the capacity to heal.
However, healing takes time. We must wait on God’s timing to be transformed into a renewed individual of purpose. As we wait, Bible healing words like strength reminds us of God’s capacity, and willingness to uplift us.
This Scripture found in Isaiah 40:31 encouraged us to wait and God and be hopeful for His healing. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary.”
6. Peace
The peace of God that the Bible says surpasses all understanding, is able to keep us and lead us to our healing. In this Scripture found in John 14:27, Jesus encourages His disciples to be firm and resilient in the world, utilizing the peace He left with them.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” – John 14:27
7. Restoration
This term restoration is another word for healing. You might wonder if God is able to give you back all that the enemy stole from you. You health, your resources, your family etc. But in Joel 2:25 we learn about the restorative power of our King of Kings.
“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten.” – Joel 2:25
8. Hope
I have written extensively about hope. Hope is the fuel that keeps us going towards our healing. It is a Bible healing word we must keep with us as we linger for God’s redemption. May you hope in the Lord, because when you hope in Him, you will never be disappointed.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.” – Romans 15:13
9. Deliverance
Is your life full of troubles? Are you struggling with the pestilence of a wounded soul. Don’t worry. This Scripture in Psalm 34:17 is a reminder that God will deliver you in due season. He will deliver you from your troubles and give you victory over every demon you face.
This Bible healing word is evidence that God wants to redeem you with His love.
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” – Psalm 34:17
10. Victory
Victory belongs to you and I. Only duty is to believe in God, our victory, take hold of it. Meditate on this verse in 1 Corinthians 15:57 and claim your victory in Jesus name.
“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57
