Have you ever found yourself in need of total healing? In one sense, brokenness is a reality we must confront; in another, it is a jewel for us to embrace. No matter how complex our pain may be, there are steps to Godly healing that can transform us into someone beautifully whole. Sometimes, it’s in our most tangled, convoluted moments that God brews the essence of our personal power.
Who knows how to build a man? We go to school to learn a lot of things, but where do we go to learn how to make a man? We might even go as far as creating an artificial human—but who can blow the breath of reason into our spirits?
I wrote in my book, Broken, Yet Destined To Be Healed, that brokenness can be beautiful. Much like the earth is dug to uncover its rich treasures, we are often torn apart to unlock spiritual power. One thing is for certain: God knows what He is about. He knows how to use our pain to paint our lives with blessing.
In this blog, we will look at the 7 most powerful steps to Godly healing. Godly healing is the process we go through to look more like love. It is the culmination of our pain and our life in one picture. Come with me, and let’s appeal to the flow of God’s healing rain. Let’s go.
1. Trusting God by Faith
Trusting God by faith is an essential part of our spiritual walk. It is also the first of the steps to Godly healing. We will not begin to heal until we trust in the power and authority of our Healer.
I asked the question in the introduction: Who knows how to build a man? The answer is that God knows how to build a man. Yet God cannot truly build someone who does not trust Him.
Trusting God by faith means that we follow His Word no matter what. Regardless of the problems we face, trusting God means we live by His principles and the authority of His Word. As we do this, we will be transformed by healing grace.
What kind of problems are you facing right now? What’s the root cause of these troubles? Maybe by identifying the root cause, you will realize that it’s because you are out of line with God’s Word. God will honor us with His blessings when we live by His Word and follow His commandments.
2. Letting Go of Regret
I was recently having a conversation with my brother, and we spoke about regret. I expressed to him how regret has affected me throughout the years. Regret is like a barricade to our healing. As we consider the steps to Godly healing, we must know that a very important one is to let go of regret.
Once, I was broken with the sorrow of regret. One thing I have found is that this sorrow is a very heavy load to carry around. I also discovered that regret is a great enemy of spiritual progress. When we regret, we keep living in a past we cannot change. Healing from a spiritual wound means that we let regret go and dine in the flow of heavenly healing.
Are you also a victim of regret? Are you constantly bombarded by the sorrows left by the wounds of yesterday? Be encouraged and never give up. Understand that sorrow is a negative emotion that gets you nowhere. Also know that letting go of your sorrows is a way to release healing into your life. The truth is that with God, all things are possible.
3. Letting Go of Yesterday
At some point or the other, we’ll realize that the stain of yesterday is very hard to remove. The good news is that God wants to paint our pain away. However, we must first let go of the wounds left by past hurt.
If you have ever been wounded, you’ll know that indelible scars are often a reality. These are the wounds that stick with us and do not seem to want to go away. They can dictate our mood, faith, and spiritual progress.
I’ve been wounded a lot. In hindsight, I have found that most of my wounds were caused by holding on to the hurt and sorrow of yesterday. This is why the steps to Godly healing can never be complete without letting go of what used to be. The enemy of your progress is the chain of what’s bygone.
Faith-based healing means that we relieve ourselves of the things that hold us back and move forward into the light of God.
4. Choosing to Love Over Envy, Hate, and Revenge
God is love, and love never fails. Amidst the fracture that lingers, love will guide us to wholesome restoration. When we love, we align with the power of God’s healing and the flow of His grace.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. – 1 Corinthians 13:8
Choosing to love over hate, envy, and revenge is a powerful spiritual weapon that will shape our victory. When we love, we show God how much we acknowledge His will.
Envy, hate, and revenge are just some of the negative emotions that will prevent us from experiencing the fullness of God’s grace. Loving is the total opposite of these negative emotions.
5. Renewing Your Mind
A renewed mind is perhaps most important when it comes to the steps to Godly healing. Most often, it is from a negative mind that we experience the trauma of brokenness. Yet, when we renew our minds, we shift the atmosphere of our thinking and open the flow of divine thought.
The truth is that a mind built on the Word of God is a healed, renewed, and transformed one—which is the foundation of wholesome healing. A fractured mind is the leading cause of spiritual wounds. It is the result of a distorted understanding caused by the stings of yesterday.
Satan is after our minds. Consider that most of the difficulties we experience are just means to bring us away from the knowledge and truth of God. Yet, the Bible proclaims, then your will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. The truth is that as long as we walk with God by faith, our healing is guaranteed.
6. Remaining Resilient No Matter What
Remaining resilient is a key strategy when stepping into the light of God’s promise to heal. Spiritual resilience means that we enforce the armor of our protection and trust God’s leading no matter what. It also means that we surrender to His authority and dine in His love.
When we are broken, it shows that we are in need of spiritual resilience. It is an indication that we have a way to go in our process of faith. This is because a spiritually resilient person will be armored with the weapons to withstand the fiery darts that break us.
You might ask, “How do I build spiritual resilience?” It is easier said than done, but it is possible through the grace of God. Trusting God is the first step to spiritual robustness and the gateway to divine intervention. As we trust Him, we will follow His Word and partake of His will.
7. Never Give Up
Never give up. As you go, remember that as you press, God will lead you to the place of your healing. Personally, I have felt the urge to give in on many occasions. In fact, at times, I almost gave up. In these troubled moments, I learned that what keeps me going is that God hasn’t given up on me. When I lack the strength to hold on, I am reminded that God is holding on to me.
God will hold you too, as you walk by faith. Know that it is not by might, nor by your own power, but it is through the Spirit of God that you are sustained. As you walk the steps to Godly healing, be encouraged by the fact that God will carry you and help you bear your burdens. Your responsibility through it all is to trust in God and never give up.
Concluding Thoughts
We have learned about the steps to Godly healing. Healing might take time, but spiritual restoration is possible through the grace of our strong God. By His unfailing strength, we can navigate the road of brokenness and access the place of faithful transformation.
By trusting God, we surrender to His will, and by letting go of regret, we relieve ourselves of the chains of yesterday. When we choose to love over hate, envy, and revenge, we give God the opportunity to work on our behalf. By following these steps to Godly healing, we unlock the door of God’s promise to heal us.
Are you in need of healing? Have you fallen to the snares of diabolic wounds? Take heart and stay hydrated by the flow of God’s steadfast love. As you remain on the narrow way of life, you will be led to the wholesomeness of God’s divine healing. God bless you.
