There are powerful spiritual lessons we can learn from eagles that can empower us to soar to new heights and explore new dimensions. Eagles never fly with other birds; instead, they soar at higher altitudes. Their superior attitude determines their altitude. In Isaiah 40, the Bible tells us that when we wait on God, we will rise on wings like eagles.
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
Eagles teach us about healing, renewal, and how to set ourselves apart from the crowd. As children of God, our primary goal is to separate ourselves from this sinful, fallen world.
The Bible tells us not to conform to the ways of the world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. When we do this, we become like eagles soaring high in the sky. The truth is, when we align ourselves with the world, we become enemies of God.
The Bible Compares The Character of An Eagle To God
The Bible says that God will carry us on eagles’ wings. Consider the strength and resilience of an eagle, and how its attitude determines its altitude. This helps us understand why the Bible uses the imagery of God carrying us on eagles’ wings. These wings lift us above our circumstances and guide us carefully to safety.
As we navigate through our broken places, we should always remember that God Most High desires to carry us on eagles’ wings.
In Deuteronomy 32:11, the Bible says God deals with us as an eagle stirs up its nest and hovers over its young. This is revealing. We often assume that when our “nests” are stirred, it’s the work of the enemy. Yet, God frequently stirs our nests to lift us to higher heights on eagles’ wings. As we learn from the eagle, we must take this wisdom to heart.
The same God who stirs our nests to push us out of our comfort zones is the same God who will catch us when we fall. Because of this, we should be confident when our nests are unsettled. It’s actually working for our good.
Eagles Teach Us About The Power Of Vision
Eagles possess exceptional vision, said to be 4 to 8 times stronger than that of the average human. Even though an eagle soars higher than other birds, its ability to see and target its prey is unparalleled.
One of the spiritual lessons we can learn from eagles is their extraordinary vision. As we move through life, we should strive to develop the vision of an eagle. We should learn to see far beyond our immediate circumstances, using the eyes of faith. Many times, God is working something amazing in the spiritual realm, but due to our short-sightedness, we fail to perceive it. The eagle teaches us the power of focus and the importance of seeing with clarity.
We should not only learn to focus on earthly things but also cultivate divine focus. We must learn to discern God’s goodness and His will for our lives by seeing as He does. Eyes of faith will see beyond our present realities and recognize God working from afar.
One scripture that I particularly love is Jeremiah 46:27, which speaks of God saving Israel from afar. This verse highlights the precision of God’s vision. He is able to see us clearly, even in our troubles, and save us from a distance.
As you walk your own path of pain, be encouraged. God’s vision is like that of an eagle. He sees us from afar and is able to save us from a distance. The Bible says, “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” The beauty is that God sees you, hears you, and can reach you right where you are. Won’t you trust Him?
Eagles Teach Us About The Power Of Rebirth
An eagle also teaches us the power of rebirth. As we soar to higher heights, we must learn to be born again. In John 3, when Nicodemus approaches Jesus at night, Jesus teaches him an important lesson about rebirth. He tells Nicodemus that the way to enter the kingdom of heaven is to be born again, by water and spirit. Essentially, Jesus is telling Nicodemus that he must adopt a new perspective and mindset in order to enter the kingdom.
For the eagle, the process of rebirth occurs through something known as molting. It sheds its old feathers, and its beak breaks off, allowing new feathers and a new beak to grow. Similarly, we often go through periods that feel like our own molting—when we are stripped down, only to grow into someone stronger and more refined.
Our circumstances might seem like they are meant to break and destroy us, but the eagle teaches us that after molting comes healing and renewal. Our duty in this process is to hold on to the very end and never give up.
Eagles Teach Us How To Navigate Our Storms
While writing this blog, I researched eagles and discovered that they possess remarkable abilities to navigate storms. Rather than fleeing from them, they employ various strategies to handle strong winds. Spiritual lessons we can learn from eagles include their approach to facing challenges head-on.
One effective strategy eagles use is to fly above the storms. By doing so, they can navigate through the turbulence more easily.
However, there are times when eagles must go through storms. When this happens, they often glide on the strong winds, and they may hold their position in stormy weather to conserve their strength.
Eagles might have the option to maneuver around a storm but choose to fly through it. This decision could be motivated by a desire to protect their territory or seize a hunting opportunity. At times, flying through the storm is a necessity because no other options are available.
From this, we learn that sometimes we need to elevate ourselves above our storms to overcome them. Additionally, when it’s not possible to fly above them, we must embrace the storms and fight through them.
Eagles also teach us that often our goals lie within the storm, and we should not shy away from them. We must dive right in, knowing we have the inner strength to survive and emerge victorious.
As you soar to higher heights, don’t fear your storms. Embrace them with the confidence of who you are. You are like an eagle, capable of soaring through any storm that comes your way.
Eagles Teach Us About Patience and Timing
Spiritual lessons we can learn from eagles include the importance of timing when pursuing our own goals. While hunting, an eagle will wait for the opportune moment to strike. It watches its prey with great precision, and when the time is right, it attacks. I often see eagles diving into the water to catch fish. Consider how precise they must be to do this.
We must cultivate a patient spirit, as we often have to wait for the perfect moment to act. If the eagle lacked precise vision, it wouldn’t be able to see clearly enough to strike at the right time. This teaches us that as we navigate our own stormy weather, we need to adopt a holistic approach. By doing so, we will surely soar to higher heights.

Conclusion
We have learned about the innate ability of the eagle to soar to higher heights. This ability is something it is born with, even though it improves with time. It is the same with us as we journey through life. We are born with the ability to navigate challenges with power and resilience.
We possess the spiritual fortitude to endure any storm. We just have to be as confident as the eagle, which faces storms head-on, regardless of their rage or turbulence.
Among the spiritual lessons we can learn from eagles is learning to see from afar off. We must look through eyes of faith, and understanding that we can heal and renew through our brokenness.
May you cultivate these qualities of the eagle. As you trust God, He’ll give you the strength to endure and the resilience to be unstoppable. Be blessed.
